The Plaza Theatre

Kensington’s independent single-screen cinema, showing films in the same building since 1935.

The Plaza Theatre is an independent cinema on Kensington Road NW. The building went up in 1927 as an auto garage and opened as a single-screen cinema on January 10, 1935. After closing in 2020, it was taken over in 2021 and reopened in January 2022, and today it hosts new releases, repertory screenings, film festivals and special events. The auditorium is also available to rent for private screenings and events. Showtimes are added to the Plaza’s What’s On page as soon as each film is confirmed, and tickets are sold through the theatre’s own website. Check there for current screenings and prices.
