Charles Darwin's On the Origin of Species is one of the most consequential scientific books ever printed. Darwin produced six editions of the book between 1859 and 1872. Three speakers with differing disciplinary backgrounds will trace these dynamic years of the Origin of Species' unfolding, placing Darwin's work amidst a rich array of interconnected historical, literary, and scientific events.AnnieMurray is Rare Books and Special Collections Librarian in Archives and Special Collection, and is co-curator of All Netted Together: Charles Darwin, Alfred Russel Wallace, and the Social Life of a Theory. She has previously curated exhibitions on Louis Riel and H.G. Wells. She has a Masters degrees in English Language and Literature and Library and Information Studies, both from the University of British Columbia.Lusine (Lulu) Petrosyan is Assistant Curator in Archives and Special Collections. She is co-curator of All Netted Together: Charles Darwin, Alfred Russel Wallace, and the Social Life of a Theory. She holds a BA in Archaeology and an MA in Classics from the University of Calgary.Craig Jacobs is a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Cell Biology and Anatomy in the Cumming School of Medicine. His multidisciplinary research spans developmental biology, genetics, systems biology and evolution. He has published peer-reviewed research in journals such as Developmental Biology, eLife and Evolutionary Biology. Always free. Everyone welcome.
