Join us for a compelling keynote with Dr. Wisdom Tettey, Vice-Chancellor of Carleton University and a leading scholar of media, governance, and global citizenship. Presented as part of the African Studies Speaker Series, this address will explore how stronger home–Diaspora linkages can shape a confident and forward-looking future for the African continent. Dr. Tettey will examine how institutions, communities, and individuals can leverage skills, networks, and shared commitments to reposition Africa globally and maximize the benefits of brain circulation. He will conclude with a call to galvanize a generation of entrepreneurial, globally aware, and digitally skilled transnational citizens committed to advancing The African We Want.BIO Dr. Wisdom Tettey is Carleton University's 17th President and Vice-Chancellor. Tettey joined Carleton in 2024 from the University of Toronto, where he served as Vice-President and was Principal of the Scarborough campus. His interdisciplinary research interest and expertise includes media, politics and civic engagement in Africa; African higher education and the knowledge society; transnational citizenship and the African diaspora; representation, identity, and inclusive citizenship. Dr. Tettey has served as a consultant and advisor to various global organizations, including the World Bank, the United Nations Development Programme, the Africa Capacity Building Foundation and the International Association of Universities. He is an elected Fellow of the Ghana Academy of Arts and Sciences and serves on the advisory and editorial boards of various academic publications.
